Here’s a few of the links to articles I referred to in my message this past Sunday. I find the “Focus on the Family” website generally very helpful!

I stumbled across a couple of video updates from two of the missionary families we support as a church. We often refer to them as our “Partners” (short for “Partners in Mission”). Check out these links (scroll to the bottom of the page to find the video updates)!

This just in…the Kennys, our missionary partners, sent word this weekend that the adoption of Ava was approved by the courts. Praise the Lord! God is good (all the time) and He has once again answered our prayers!

Although we haven’t taken the time to update the link on out site yet, the Kennys are now using a new blog to document their missionary adventures. Check it out. There are some great pictures there of the happy family!

A Delightful and Difficult Day

I recognize that Mother’s Day can be both a delightful day and difficult day. It’s a day to celebrate because we all have Mother’s who gave us life. But I am also aware that for some Mother’s Day comes with mixed emotions because of present or past experiences.

For those of you who find this day difficult because you are not mother’s and want to be, my prayers are with you. I came upon this website and pass it on to you as a possible source of strengthen and encouragement today (http://www.bethany.org/step).

For those of you who are Mothers, my prayer for you today is that you will experience God’s love in a fresh new way so that you can be a loving example to your children!

The greatest thing that my Mom has done for me was to be that example of love (which allowed me to be introduced to Jesus Christ). Mother or not, we can all strive to be an example of God’s love in the hopes of introducing other’s to Jesus.

Saturday Morning Dilemma

So it’s a sunny Saturday Morning…I’ve had breakfast with the guys from our Men’s Small Group…supervised Kids Floor Hockey…and just finished changing the church sign. Believe it or not the most difficult part of the day-changing the sign. Now I can be a bit of a perfectionist at times and I do over-analyze things every now and then so putting out a message for all to see is pretty important (in my mind). Got to get it just right.

The idea was simple, put something up about Mother’s Day but then came the dilemma…what! Let’s face it so much can be said about Mothers. Another thought that crossed my mind was that many of us have very different feelings for and relationships with our mothers depending on our experiences. After coming up with all kinds of messages, I finally decided on two words. Yep just two (sometimes less is best). The two words…THANKS MOM. Not sure what people will think when driving by, I hoping mothers who see the sign will feel appreciated and that those of us who aren’t mothers will be prompted to show our appreciate.

I don’t think Moms want much in return…gifts and flowers are great but wouldn’t they trade all that in just to feel appreciated (on a daily basis)? I think so.
