I wanted to remind you about our “Picture This” Adult fellowship event that is coming up this Saturday, September 25. Grab your digital cameras and join us at 5:30pm for a night of fun. We will be meeting in Devon at the parking lot just off the Trail on the north end of the walking bridge (beside what used to be Craig Electric). Once the scavenger hunt is done we will be heading back to the church to view the photos and have some refreshments (so please bring something to share). Please note if it is raining on Saturday we do have a back up event planned for the church that night. A decision will be made by 12pm Saturday and we will up date the welcome page on our church website along with the phone messages at the church with any change of plans!

It’s definitely time…to update my blog!

The last time I posted something in this space, I was talking about Christmas in June well June is long gone and Christmas is a lot closer now! I figured it was finally time to get back into the habit of blogging (at least a little). Funny how we often have good intentions (like keeping a blog current) and then…well…life happens and other things take priority. The next thing you know three months have gone by! What happen to June, July and August anyway? Many of us set out to do things and have great intentions but we just don’t follow through. As I said a few weeks ago during our worship service “‘Sometime’ often never comes!”

Well my friends, now is the time! I’m sure there is something in all of our lives that God wants us to stop putting off and just do. Maybe it’s visiting an old friend, maybe it’s getting back into the habit of going to church (or checking church out for the first time), maybe it’s taking your wife out on a date…it could be any number of things but if you are anything like me, there is something and IT’S DEFINITELY TIME!

September has arrived!

I’m excited that it’s finally September!  While I know that September means the end of summer vacation, I’m glad to be getting into a routine.

I’m looking forward to starting this fall with you here at Douglas.  As we get started with our groups, I want to let you know about a few things:

If you’re in middle school, make sure you plan to be here at the church on Fridays at 7PM.  This Friday, we’re going to kick-off with a “murder mystery.”  Can your team be the first group to solve the mysterious murder of Mr. Boddy?  (Think “Clue:board game” meets “Church-wide game!”)

If you’re in high school, don’t miss out on the first Sunday Nite Live of the new school year.  We’re going to meet at the church this coming Sunday at 5PM to head out for supper as a group, and then we’ll head over to Smythe Street Cathedral after that.

I know some of the high school students have been asking about discipleship group.  We’re going to start that group on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:30 at my house! (18 Benjamin Drive, behind Sunset Church)

Last thing I want you to know about … On the first weekend of October, we’re going to have a retreat at Green Hill Lake Camp with some other youth groups.  The registration fee is $60 and forms can be found from me or on the youth page.  This event is for both middle school and high school students.

Have a great week!

Dan
