Hi all we have arrived safely in Bolivia from argentina. Someone must have been praying today because our cab got stuck in traffic and the gate was closed for the plane. The captin had a change in heart and let the three of us on. Praise the lord! Please keep praying.

Excuse the spelling using an iPod.

Looks like we’re getting quite a rain storm for Friday Night!  With the forecast in mind, the bonfire at the Farris’ home has been cancelled.  We’ll be having Middle School Youth Group at the church (7-9PM)

Thankfulness…that’s what God wants

Many of us spend a great deal of time trying to figure out what God wants from us. I’ve known some people that get pretty worked up over God’s will for their lives. So worked up in fact that they become obsessed with trying to figure it out. God’s will for our lives is important…in fact that’s what Jesus taught us to pray for “His kingdom come and his will be done”. However, at times we get so caught up in trying to “figure out” all the details of God’s will that we miss the plain truth found in scripture about God’s will.

As I was spending some time in the Bible this week I found myself looking at 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (a classic Thanksgiving passage!). It says “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” There it is, one clear aspect of God’s will for all of us.

God’s will for me…God wants me to be thankful no matter what! Often I get so caught up in the “what” that I forget about the “how.” Maybe it’s not so much about ‘what” happens to me, but “how” I react. Another way of looking at it would be to say it’s less about doing and more about being (that’s a hard lesson for those of us who are doers to learn).

Sometimes God wants us to “do” specific things and He may even communicate that to us in some amazing way. But what God wants from us all the time (regardless of what we are doing) is thankfulness.

An attitude of gratitude; a thankful heart this is God’s will for each and every one of us!
