Looking for something to do this Saturday…why not help out our camp and volunteer some time to get things ready for the summer (yes it is coming!). Below is an e-mail I received from Stephen (GHLC’s director). Also join us this Sunday to find out who is working at camp this summer.  I believe we have a record number of young people from our church family involved in camping ministry this summer!

Greetings from Camp! Trust all is well with you and your family. We’re looking forward to this weekend’s Mission Work Camp. Can’t make it for the whole event? We’d love to see you on Saturday – looks like the weather will be good – so will the fellowship! Your camp needs help in order to be ready for the busy summer camping season [by the end of May]. Everything will wrap at 4 pm. Childcare provided.

This list is not exhaustive, but does provide a number of work options for all skill levels…

Projects that we’ll be working on this weekend could include:

· Drywall work completed in cabins 3, and 7 (drywall guns; cordless drills)

· Dressing cabins 3, 4 & 7 with T+G pine on the interior – air compressor(s) with brad nailer(s) required; chop saw(s); level(s)

· Putting down underlay in cabin 4, perhaps cabin 3 and 7. (Circular saw(s) required)

· Cutting out and drilling wood parts required for new bunks

· Varnishing new bunks

· Repairing docks

· Repairing interior wall in washroom building.

· Painting tops of stacking tables

· Leveling & staining steps for cabins 12-15

· Lots of raking, etc.

· Trimming up trees, and cutting up fallen trees around campsite (Chainsaw(s), etc. required)

· Repairing portable fans -replacing plastic bases with plywood base, etc. (Jig saw required)

· Repairing window & door screens

· Set-up Tabin fly

· Construct 2 new sets of steps (1 each for cabin 14 & 15) (multiple carpentry tools required)

· Install climbing holds in The Cave (new bouldering facility) (cordless drill(s) required)

· Paint the exterior of Electrical building

· Vinyl siding installed on Rocketry building

· Lots of painting jobs

· Lots of cleaning jobs

Come and enjoy a great time ministry service. Round up some friends, and we’ll look forward to seeing this Saturday!

Blessings,

Stephen

The Most Exciting Weekend of the Year!

It’s hard to believe that the Easter weekend is almost here (especially with the ground looking a little white this morning)! Although it often feels like Christmas is the most important celebration on our calendars, for Christians nothing really compares to Easter. Without Easter there is no…no…no… well, there is no HOPE!

We are in the middle of an exciting (Holy) week of celebrations. A wonderful Palm Sunday breakfast and service, followed last evening by a different type of communion meal. Thank you to all those who participated in our shared meal and communion. I was really looking forward to this experience and I pray that our time together last evening was the beginning of something (not a one time occurrence but the beginning of a whole different type of spiritual fellowship and communion experience). I would love to hear from those who attended especially any ideas they may have after being a part of communion in a different context (feel free to register and comment!).

Now it is on to Good Friday. As I have often said…we can’t have Easter Sunday without Good Friday!
