Christmas Project 2019-Helping Kids in Bolivia

posted 27 Nov 2018, 08:41 by Peter Moore

This year we will be partnering with Canadian Baptist Ministries and supporting kids in Bolivia. 50% of our Christmas Offering will be going to provide care for kids in Bolivia whose parents are in prison. In Bolivia, when parents go to prison, children often end up living there with them. For many years the Baptist Union of Bolivia has been operating Casa de la Amistad (“house of friendship”) across the street from a prison in Cochabamba.

Every day during the school year, children from the prison will come to the Casa for educational instruction, two healthy meals, mentorship, and a safe place to just be kids. The Casa also regularly brings in doctors, dentists, and psychologists for check-ups. $660 provides support for one child for a year.

You can give to this project by using the special Christmas offering envelopes that have been placed in church mail slots and in the pews or you can simply mark “Christmas Offering” on any envelope or when sending an e-transfer to giving@douglaschurch.ca. Please give generously and let’s see how many children we support in 2019!
