Leadership

The Bible teaches that Jesus is the head of the Church

so when making decisions we strive to follow His lead!

Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. Colossians 1:18

The Council

Council acts as a coordinating and decision making body on behalf of the Church. Each of our seven key ministry teams are represented on Council: Deacons, Missions, Facility & Finance, Adult, Youth, Children and Worship. The Council is responsible to the Church and under our model of congregational governance, final authority rests with the Church members.

Our Staff

Our staff are passionate. They have been called by God and His church here in Douglas to lead and oversee the day to day operations of the church with the help and support of our seven ministry teams. Their role is not to do it all but to encourage and equip others.

Rev. Peter Moore, Lead Pastor

Peter has been our Lead Pastor here at DBC since September 2005 when he returned from the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia where he attended Acadia Divinity College and served at Bethany Memorial Baptist Church. Pastor Peter’s call to Douglas was a home coming of sorts. A native New Brunswicker, he had the opportunity to serve as Youth Pastor at Douglas from 1997-2002. Peter grew up in Saint John and moved to the Moncton area to attend ABU (now Crandall University). This is where he met his wife Patricia. They married in 1996 and have five wonderful children: Adam (who is married to Faith), Caleb, Nathanael, Jonah and Leah. Peter enjoys fishing in the spring, biking in the summer, going for walks in the orchard in the fall and lots of snow in the winter!

Amy Gordon, Youth & Worship Director

Amy joined the DBC staff full time in January 2018. Amy loves connecting with students and considers it a privilege to journey through life with them. From mission tours, leader meetings, youth group and special events, she loves it all. As the Worship Director, it is moving to see the Holy Spirit tear down walls around the hearts of those who engage in worship. She considers it a joy serving alongside those involved in worship ministry, and together they strive for authenticity during worship. Amy, and her husband Joel, have three beautiful girls: Lily, Savannah and Isabella. Amy enjoys family game/movie nights, hosting friends and family, cooking and DIY projects.

Patricia Moore, Children's Director

In February 2018 Patricia joined the staff of Douglas Baptist Church on a part-time basis. Patricia knows a thing or two about kids-she has five of her own! With a passion for people and a deep love for Jesus, Patricia has served faithfully with her husband (Pastor Peter) for over 14 years here at DBC. Patricia loves to cook, plan special events and spend time with family & friends.

Debbie Gordon, Administrative Assistant

Debbie joined the staff at Douglas Baptist Church in 2015. She spent most of her adult life helping with the operation of the family dairy farm while raising her children. She is married to Frank and they have three married children, Matt (Leanne), Joel (Amy) and Sarah (Chad) as well as nine grandchildren. Debbie enjoys outdoor activities (kayaking, canoeing, snowshoeing, hiking), reading and spending time with family and friends.

Louise Fanjoy, Custodian

Louise and her family moved to Douglas in 1971. She started working as custodian at DBC in 1976. This began as 4 hours on Friday and has progressed to 20 hours a week. She is married to Robert who you will see assisting her occasionally. Robert and Louise have two sons Brian and Thomas, daughter-in-law Marilyn and grandchildren Laura and Benjamin. Gardening, sewing and cooking are three of Louise’s favorite activities and she sees her job at the church as a ministry.
