Douglas Decorating Challenge

Christmas is looking a little different this year. Although we made the tough decision not to hold our annual community tree lighting event this year, we will be putting up the tree for all to see as they enter Douglas. We definitely need to let our lights shine this Christmas so we have decided to host a decorating challenge for the Douglas community*. If you would like to take up this challenge click the "Sign Up Now" link. Judges will be out in the community during the week of Dec. 7. We will be awarding prizes in five categories. Prizes have been purchased from small local business because we know it's important to support local this Christmas! The first 75 homes to register will also receive a "Shine" ornament!

*For the sake of this decorating challenge we will be looking at homes on streets off of and along Clements Dr./Rte. 105 starting from the Claudie Road and ending where Rte. 105 meets Rte. 104.

Advent Candles

The Advent Season is one of anticipation and preparation. During the four weeks leading up to Christmas, people worldwide prepare not only their homes but their hearts for Christmas.

One very meaningful tradition is the lighting of candles in an Advent wreath. A new candle is lit on each of the four Sundays before Christmas. Each candle represents an important focus-Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. A fifth candle is placed in the middle of the wreath and is lit on Christmas Eve (or Christmas Day) to celebrate the birth of Jesus-the light of the world.

Christmas is a time of light. It is a time when we celebrate the light-Jesus, God's son- coming to earth. We invite you to let the light shine in your hearts and home this Christmas by making an advent wreath and lighting candles each Sunday with us.

During the Advent season we will be posting videos on our Facebook page, YouTube Channel and website every Sunday afternoon. These videos will include a brief introduction of that days theme from Pastor Peter along with powerful words of encouragement from individuals who have experienced the light and love of Jesus in their lives.

Thursday, Dec. 24 @ 4pm & 6pm

A special time to gather and reflect on the coming of Jesus-the light of the world.
